DO LOOK FOR REVIEWS

    • Developer Websites
    • Magento Marketplace: all reviews are submitted for approval by Magento staff. marketplace.magento.com

DO ASK AROUND

    • Online: Magento Stack Exchange, Magento Forums, Quora or Twitter
    • Local meet-ups: ask agencies, merchants and extension providers
    • Don’t be afraid to politely ask another Magento site who has the feature you are looking for
    • Trusted extension developers can also provide recommendation
  • DO GO FOR THE EXPERT

Here are a few signs that developers spend time and effort building and maintaining their extensions:

    • Frequent software updates to keep up with the fast evolution of the ecosystem
    • Detailed product information
    • Extensive documentation

DON’T PINCH PENNIES: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

It takes time and money to develop a well coded extension and provide best-in-class support. With low price extensions you risk two things:

    • The extension doesn’t work, you get a refund, have to uninstall it all and are back to square one
    • It takes you more time and money to fix the issues

DO LOOK ON MAGENTO MARKETPLACE

Magento Marketplace’s process for accepting extensions is fairly rigorous, meaning that the code is checked before it’s approved to be sold on the site.

DO CONTACT THE VENDOR DIRECTLY

Coming up with a question to ask the extension provider is the best way to get a feel for how responsive they are and how they deal with support. The response you get i.e. how quickly, politely and accurately it’s answered – or even if it’s answered, can sometimes tell you more than a review might.

DO TRUST EXTDN MEMBERS

Members are selected on their customer service processes, the quality of their code and their motivation to innovate and collaborate with other extension providers in order to provide the best experience to Magento merchants.
